In the end, it takes Peter a little longer than 15 minutes to show up, since he had underestimated how far away from each other are the districts of this city. He really misses having his shit of some sort functional vehicle to travel faster. Eventually, they need to bring up the issue of transportation to the gods.
When he finally shows up, 25 minutes after their conversation, he does so carrying a package wrapped in brown paper and looking apologetic.
"Sorry for making you wait, princess. I thought out districts were closer. "
A bored Alice is a wandering Alice, so when he does arrive, it's to Alice sitting high up in a tree in the orchard that's outside of their homes. She smiles and waves at him from above, a peeled orange in her lap from her own kitchen as she bites into a wedge. When she sees Peter, she waves.
"Ah, that's alright, sire! I just had the curious thought, you see. I was wondering if you can hear worse or better if you're up high. I also thought about if it's any different if you get too low, but you see, the trouble is is that I can't get very low, the tunnel to the dragon is gone. I'm not entirely sure I'm up high enough, you see, since I can still hear everything very clearly. So I don't know if a tree is high enough or if it can go anywhere without any trouble."
Peter looks up and grins, walking over so he's closer to the tree. He's clearly amused at the view and glad to see that kids will be kids everywhere.
"A very interesting theory. Maybe you need to get on a higher tree or maybe on top the roof of the God house." Here he goes suggesting terrible dangerous ideas, this is why Peter shouldn't babysit ever. One of Alice's explanations makes him pause, though, smile slipping away. "You got into the hole the dragon left behind? All on your own?"
The orange offer catches him off guard, busy fretting about the idea of Alice wandering into a dragons' cave.
"Oh being on the roof of mine won't do me much good, ours are practically built into the ground, so I'm already much taller than Honir's houses by being in this tree," she made an idle gesture towards the houses and then herself and the tree.
"Not on my own, I helped the elves... or rather, they helped me, but my intention was to help... I'm afraid my intentions don't mean much, though, I'm not very good at fighting and the sort. So... I'm not sure what to do."
[ Mary has honestly tried not to say anything up until this point, to merely avert her eyes whenever Peter walks around without a top on, but it's starting to get out of hand. It seems that as soon as he enters the bedroom, his shirt comes off. To Mary, it only makes this already wildly inappropriate living situation even more inappropriate. She has never shared a room before with anyone other than her late husband. ]
[ The request makes Peter freeze mid-step. He's shirtless because, once again, he happened to be back from the shower. Most of his day is spent working on fixing his ship, which means that the first thing he does once he's back in Tyrhouse is to take a shower to clean himself and relax. Unfortunately, this is more often than not when Mary spots him. His other roommates never complained before so he hadn't considered it an issue until now.
His familiar Sandy is in the shape of a Fennec fox today, and since she's as tired as Peter is feeling, she's by the window making the best impression of an exhausted loaf. She raises her head a little to look at both humans but that's the extent of her movements. ]
Uhm...You can just call me Peter, you know. [ Because that's the big issue here, of course Peter. ]
[ She hadn't meant to really attack him as soon as he came out of the shower. Her patience is running thin mostly due to factors that are beyond both she and Peter's control: being taken away from their homes, the living situation here and other things. It's frustrating having no privacy at all. ]
Peter, then. Please. [ Mary asks again, looking up at him when she speaks. Her eyes slide over his form, even as she mentally curses herself for doing it. ]
[ It's all right, Mary brought up the issue before it got worse, it's only unfortunate bad timing that she caught him half dead on his feet.
He notices the way her eyes wander and it's flattering but Peter gets the message soon enough and stumbles towards his closet to grab and put on the first shirt he can find. All the ones he has are form-fitting but his skin is covered up, so that's something. ]
Sorry if I made you uncomfortable, I assure you it wasn't not on purpose. I have a girlfriend, she's in the city too... [ Peter pauses, expression turning soft and smile smile appearing on his lips. Gamora IS in the city and that's more than he ever expected. ]
[After searching, and talking to people, Steve has come to the conclusion that Tony is actually gone and not just avoiding him for some reason. First Bucky, now Tony. Steve isn’t sure how some people can just disappear but it’s something he’s planning on asking the gods when he gets a chance. For now he’s going to Peter to see if he has any ideas. ]
Ivar's my room-mate and we've gotten to know each other quite a bit. He's a fighter like you, and he also hadn't had an easy life both because of his legs and because he had to compete with his brothers for respect. I'm sure you know what's that like as well. As a result, he's quite crass and blunt, and doesn't always consider the effect his words have on people. He doesn't get along with a lot of people but he's also only seventeen. You should have seen me at that age, I was acting like an idiot even for my standards.
I didn't want him to upset you and I didn't want things to go down a spiral of violence when it could be avoided. We had enough of that in the past.
[it isn't often klaus comes to tyrhaus anymore, what with the house he's been working on with his kids friends, but sometimes, exceptions can be made. like he's doing with the little figurine he'd found poking around the other day. to be frank, how could he help himself after the silly discussion he and peter had had?
his intention is to leave the thing and go before anyone catches him sneaking tiny baubles into other peoples' bunks; sue him for wanting to hesitate a bit longer, which means either he'll do whatever and slip out unnoticed after leaving the gift behind—
or there's a chance he could get caught while trying to sneak out? whatever floats your boat here, honestly.]
[ Peter still spends the nights here, for a couple of reasons. One is that his ship still needs to fixed but he's really close to being able to have a functional kitchen and water system. The second is that he really doesn't want to leave Ivar unsupervised for long.
Given that Klaus is still near, he might hear Peter's loud laughter after he spots the figurine, knowing who left it here. It can't be Sora, it's not the kid's style so that only leaves a second culprit. He walks out of his room looking for Klaus and sure enough spots him trying to sneak out of the house. One of the few advantages of living in a place that is practically only glass windows. ]
[oh, and klaus hears it, even picks up his pace slightly and powerwalks faster down the hallway in spite of the smile that comes across his face. he's just about home free whenever he hears his name, followed by “not so fast!”
with an immediateness that'd spin someone's head, he halts, lifts his hands from his sides, palms upturned in a pathetic ‘but why?’ gesture. goddamn it, he was so close, the exit's only a good sprint away— but instead, he huffs a silent sigh then drops his arms, hands tucking into his pockets as he faces peter by doing a quick turn on the ball of his foot.]
Heyyy, [he drawls, sounding not-at-all innocent, despite his attempt to.] How's it going, Peter?
[Hey, Peter, how's your morning this Christmas day? Calm? Relaxed? Maybe even restful?
HAVE A SEVEN YEAR OLD ON CHRISTMAS MORNING. Alice is already in his room before there's really a way to answer HOW but she's jumping on the bed and is shaking him a bit. Even the most polite children can't help themselves on Christmas, Alice is no exception.]
LORD PETER LORD PETER LORD PETER! HE CAME HE CAME HE CAME! FATHER CHRISTMAS CAME AND HE EVEN FOUND YOUR SHIP!
[ Yes, he was having a lovely rest, cuddling his future wife to be in this very early Christmas morning. It was one of the best nights of sleep he had in a while, which is why Alice screaming at the of her lungs almost gives Peter a heart attack. It wakes him up immediately and he sits up in alarm, arm reaching out to the side instinctively to shield Gamora from whatever might be attacking them. ]
WHAT? What's happening? Why are we screaming!? Wh...at..Ah, Alice?
[ Oh thank god, the creature attached to his free arm and tugging at it is a very excited girl and not some random monster trying to eat them. Alas, it takes Peter's sleepy brain a few seconds to understand what she's saying. ]
Hah, of course. Told you she would come, princess.
[Gamora is pulled out of a deep sleep by all the screaming and jumping. Alice's voice hits her first as she sits up straight, knife in hand. (Carefully pointed away from said child's voice!) She looks around sharply, gaze only lingering on Peter's arm shielding her and Alice clinging to his free one. It's that kind of morning, huh?]
I'll engage the enemy first. [She's getting up to fight Santa. She's way too tired to put this together. Stab first, ask questions later!!]
[On Valentine's Day, Peter will receive a bright red card with a little rabbit hand-painted on the front on his side of the bed (Gamora has the same thing on her side of the bed, but unlike last time, Alice is not jumping onto their bed to give this to them). Inside is a little note in perfectly neat cursive and a small bag of chocolate chip cookies.]
Dearest Lord Peter,
Happy Valentines Day! Sora told me that I could make Valentines' for friends and family, so I decided to make some for you since you're like my family here! So, please enjoy these chocolate chip cookies I made!
[ Peter notices the painted card and immediately upon awakening and a touched smile spreads on his face as he reads it.
Alice is so sweet, he really wasn't expecting a present like this and to be called family makes him go a bit teary eyed. He will make sure to cook Alice's favorite dish for lunch today and get her some art supplies. ]
