[Alice smiled brightly and moved... well, INTO the bed, propriety be damned, it's Christmas! She snuggles onto them both, each hand taking their arms and hugging them close.]
Father Christmas came and he left gifts! I bet we can find yours under the trees as well! And I have both of your gifts as well!
Woah woah...[ Peter's eyes widen comically at the view of the knife, even though he should have expected that. He isn't shocked that Gamora keeps pointy things on her person at all times but the quick way in which she can draw them out always takes him by surprise. ]
It's okay, 'Mora. [ He relaxes and smiles down at the excited girl when Alice snuggles up to them. Oh this is sweet, almost like the family movies he watched as a kid. He never thought he would get to have this. ] You startled us, Alice. But I suppose we shouldn't waste more time.
[Reluctantly Gamora lowers her guard. It is now dawning on her that this is old information; a Terran custom. She shouldn't be alarmed by an invasion of her home. With a soft sigh, she slips the knife back into its hiding spot and lets herself relax. It's easy when you're getting hugged by a child this cute.]
Should we start our search, Star-Lord? [The dry humor is impossible to miss, but she quirks a brow up all the same. She reaches down to brush her fingers over Alice's hair quickly.] You'll have to show me how this works, Alice.
[She leaned her head into Gamora's touch and hugged Gamora's arm closer.]
You'll love Christmas morning, Lady Gamora! I made tea already! And I even found the fruit and made some light breakfast! [Since anything involving the oven needed supervision, even at home.]
So come eat and come open gifts! And Father Christmas even ate the cookies Lord Peter said to leave out for him! They're all gone except one! The milk too!
The sooner the better, Star-Lady. [ His shit-eating grin can't be helped, he's too happy to not act like a child himself. He doesn't miss how sweet Gamora always acts around Alice either, it makes his heart skip a beat in joy at the view. ]Aw Alice, you didn't have to do all that.
[ Peter starts getting out of the bed, glad that he's wearing a shirt for once along with his sweatpants. He runs a hand through his hair, looking away and trying not to look seem too guilty when Alice mention the cookies. That was all part of the tradition, okay. ]I'm sure you can't wait to open your present, Father Christmas must have brought a lot of lovely things for a lovely girl.
[She knocks her shoulder against Peter's playfully before joining him in getting up. Gamora finds herself loving it the more he uses it which she will probably keep to herself as long as possible.... and Alice. The girl doesn't count.] How can I refuse such a tempting offer?
[She pads across the floor to follow the merry gang to the presents. As usual, Gamora is dressed simple and practical with a soft tank top and pants. She still doesn't quite get the holiday, but they make her want to try.] I wonder what this father left Alice.
[Hey if she slips a quick look Peter's way, it's just to ask a question. :)]
I don't know! But he gave me so much more than I asked for! I only asked for some colored pencils and drawing books but there are at least two extra things with my name on it!
[Tug tug tug! Stop being sloooow! You both have longer legs than her so you should be faster! The little rabbit of a child may or may not be incredibly excited. She is bouncing as she holds both their hands to tug them to where the gifts had been.]
I didn't have any presents last night but I do today and they all are from Father Christmas!
[ The shoulder bump makes him smile at Gamora affectionately and makes him all feel all warm inside. Which is good because his bare feet are now freezing, that's the downside of having a floor made of metal. ]
You clearly were a very good so he brought you extra presents.
[ He grabs his slippers as they leave the room and is trying to put on his shoes as he walks which means that he nearly trips and falls on his face about seven times. On the bright side, it helps him avoid answering Gamora's unsaid question and embarrass himself further. ]
Let's not waste more time then, we can have breakfast once all the presents are open.
[Gamora picks up the pace with a laugh. The sweetness and earnestness Alice possesses does a lot to bring Gamora's walls down. She doesn't even think to pause to get anything to cover herself making Peter's stumbling around even funnier to anyone watching from the outside. She doesn't stop until they reach the presents, reluctantly letting Alice's hand go so she can get her gifts.] Go ahead. We'll watch.
[Alice hurried over to the gifts. She pulled out all the gifts that had her name on them, her hands running down and along them to see if she could figure out what was inside before opening them.
But first she started with a slender present that had a solid weight to it. She began to open it in a rush, and then paused and blinked at the thin wooden case. She looked it all over, finding the latches that held it close and popped them open before rows and rows of paints, colored pencils, pastels, erasers, crayons, and everything else she could ever want to use to paint or draw was in the case. Her eyes widened and, slowly, carefully, she ran her fingers over each row...]
Look at it... it's... it's incredible... I could... I could paint and color for months and months with this!
[ A little bit more awake now, Peter fetches a chair for Gamora and one for himself, so they can sit together and he can sneak an arm around her waist. God, he needs coffee, but that can wait for now.
Peter watches the excited way in which Alice opened the present, a fond look in his eyes. He remembers being her age and waking up his mom in the same sort of boundless energy, impatient to see what the presents would be. ]
I'm sure we have some paper around but we will have to get you some more. That way you can draw all the things you want.
[Gamora doesn't have a moment like this to call up. While Thanos gave her gifts, it certainly wasn't a heartwarming time. The former assassin isn't thinking about that in the moment. She's sitting beside Peter, head resting against his arm. She is truly content and light; completely present in the moment with them. It's a rare gift for Gamora. She is appreciating it with her entire heart.] You deserve nothing less. I am sure you will fill Asgard with so much beauty.
