"Kicking someone in a vulnerable place?" she tilted her head as she began to pet her new kitty. She looked to the kitty and then back to Peter. "What's a vulnerable place? Is it the toe? Because I've stubbed my toe and its hurt a terrible amount. Or I've hit my shin sometimes, is that a vulnerable place too?"
She presses all sorts of kisses to the little stuffed cat.
"It's a very good option, and I'm going to name her Toffee. And of course she's a she, look at her face!" she held out the kitten again. "That is a pretty kitty named Toffee's face."
"Yes, usually in the stomach or between their legs." It's probably not something a seven years old should know an about but given that they're in a city full of gods and strange things happen all the time, Peter does believe it's important to tell her.
"The toe is also a good place! If someone tried to grab you or is threatening you, stomp on their feet and run away as fast as you can. Don't look back, that wastes time and you might trip on something. The shin...well it hurts but you need to kick it really hard because it's all bone down there. Better go for the softer bits."
Peter Quill: giving parenting lessons of the year. His eyes soften at seeing Alice so happy with the stuffed toy. He's glad she likes it so much.
"Yes, you're right. That's a lady face that screams Toffee, good choice. She looks very happy about it."
"Between their legs?" she tilted her head. "Can't they just bend at the knees?" Alice didn't know about how painful it was for boys to be kicked in such a place. "It all seems very mean to hit or kick anyone at all, though. I don't like the idea of hurting someone." She knew that fencing, archery, and boxing were all very lady-like hobbies to have, but you never hurt anyone! Well, maybe in boxing, but Alice had never been to a boxing match, she had only seen an article about it in her sister's magazine.
At his mention of the softer bits she reached out and poked him in the stomach and then his arms and then his cheeks.
"This is the only soft bit you have," it was actually quite surprising how much of him was hard to the touch.
"Yep. If you hit them just right, they will bend over completely." Ah, bless her innocence. "That's only a last resource. if someone's being mean or trying to hurt you, you try running away first. But if they don't let you go then is when you can kick them."
Honestly, Peter sees no problem in running away when you are being attacked without means to defend yourself. It gives you a chance to prepare and fight another day.
"Ah, well...maybe I need to start exercising more." His smile falls a little when Alice pokes him in the stomach but he can't be frustrated for long when she's acting so cute. "Good, I'm sure you two will become best friends in no time. What do you say? Do we get down the tree and I show you how the network works?
